The fun part about this course is…well, just about all of it because learning to dive is incredible. During the course, you’ll make at least five pool dives and four dives at local dive sites under the supervision of your PADI Instructor.

The Scuba Gear You Use

In the PADI Open Water Diver course, you learn to use basic scuba gear including a BCD. regulators, tank, and standard accessories. The equipment you wear will be chosen by a SCUBA WEST Representative to ensure your comfort throughout the course.

The Learning Materials You Need

PADI offers a variety of home-study materials for the Open Water Diver course including book and video, tablet application, or eLearning. Recently PADI has enhanced this program by offering the learning material in an Elearning environment via the internet.

Contact SCUBA WEST to personalize the best study option for you!

PADI’s Open Water Diver materials cover what you need to know about basic scuba diving skills, terminology, and safety procedures. For each concept, you’ll read a description and watch a video demonstration. Then you’ll jump in the pool (or pool-like environment) to practice these skills with your instructor.

When, What and Where?

Our weekend program consists of two consecutive Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Don’t worry, if you need to separate those weekends, just let us know, and will show you options for your schedule.

included in your tuition is your PADI open water CrewPak which includes your manual, your logbook, and dive planner. if you’d prefer to complete the knowledge development online, let us know. You will also have to watch the Open Water diver DVD before your class.

Scuba West complete your training right on our two-and-a-half acre complex. When you pull into our parking lot you are just steps from our classroom, swimming pool, and open water dive site, Hudson Grotto.

But there are a couple of things that you will need. A good mask, scuba fins with boots, and snorkel are all you need to get started. Scuba West offers all of our students discounted prices and your packages. The best part is we allow our clients to exchange any gear they are not happy with even after they’ve used it.
